There is few allied games running and only a handful of players take part. You can expect a drain of players for many reasons: time to spend on games, loss of interest after years of playing SK and so on.
The inflow of new players to the established alliances are little, - to be frank - new players with little skill are not welcome.
SK is not easy to manage and takes long time. Local missions and online games give some skill, but allied games are different and you need to play in an alliance.
Lately I have played among new players, they are eager to learn and entusiastic about the game. To promote allied gaming I think of unreg alliances as a way for new players to get into this type of game. If also some "old" players take part, experience can be spread.

i know this is an old post. but one worthy of re-opening. Encouragement of unreg'd to join in allied play has always been encouraged by lots of us.
in fact, i see it as vital to the game itself.

Granted, ive not played much myself in the past few yrs, and im trying to get back into the hang of it, but i would gladly take any unreg in my alliance that wants to learn. I have no problems in showing them the ropes.

While i still dont play everyday, cause of work and my new granddaughter , i am planning on trying to start recruiting.
